I have worked in Bulgaria since 2007 in partnership with the Bulgarian Evangelical Church of Kazanlak. For 18 months I worked in an orphanage bringing love and care to ten children who have multiple, severe disabilities. As I cared for these children day after day, I clearly saw that they have many needs which cannot be met in a large institutional setting. It is my desire to create a home for these children where they can receive the love and care they so desperately need, in an environment that is more like a family than an institution.
I have degrees in psychology and nursing and eight years of training and work focused on highly vulnerable children. I am also a survivor of a near fatal head injury which occurred when I was two years old. I have been blessed to receive the help I needed to overcome many challenges and now I want to help these children reach their full potential.
